Methods to Improve the Compilation Efficiency and Quality of Bidding Documents

Bidding is one of the most important methods to win a project. Preparing bidding documents is critical to every company, especially its marketing department. However, preparing bidding documents is not an easy job because it takes lots of time and effort. The author developed a bidding quotation database management platform based on his rich work experience. Through analyzing hundreds of previous bidding projects, which can be categorized by project types, project levels and bidding results, the author developed a database to use for future bidding projects. This database can be updated by inputting the evaluation of the bidding results. This article introduces the development methods for the bidding quotation database and demonstrates the key points of using this database to improve the compilation efficiency and quality of bidding documents

For an EPC contract, the purposes of the employer are to better control the total project cost and effectively avoid the potential risks, while the contractor needs to manage the project more efficiently and reasonably to maximize the profit. Therefore, an in-depth research and analysis of the key points of project management in EPC model, including early-stage planning, engineering management, procurement management, design change management, stakeholders management, project human resource management, risk management and quality management, needs to be carried out to find out how to improve the management efficiency by using reasonable means and skills, so that the cost, schedule and quality of the project can be effectively controlled during the whole process including planning, engineering and construction. Also the management means and skills should be reasonably and flexibly adjusted according to the characteristics of different projects to help to understand the differences between the management models of domestic projects and overseas projects while achieving efficient project management, thus continuously improving the customer (employer) satisfaction and providing references for engineering companies to open up international market and promote the integration with overseas EPC projects

A large amout of equipment and materials in overseas petrochemical projects contracted by Chinese engineering companies are purchased from China. For domestic equipment and materials exported to other countries, the companies will get tax refund for value added tax. Export tax rebate, as an important means to promote export trade, also has an important impact on the procurement cost of project. This paper classifies and identifies the HS code and export tax rebate rate of typical equipment and materials in petrochemical projects based on the structure of estimate and the Customs Import and Export Tariff of the People’s Republic of China, and calculates the general export tax rebate rate of project level and discipline level, providing reference for the investment estimate of future overseas petrochemical projects

This paper discusses the key points in the engineering design of methyl methacrylate tank farm from the aspects of tank design, safety accessories, control system and the treatment of waste gas, waste water and waste solids. The three-level pressure protection measures including nitrogen seal system, breathing valve and emergency vent manhole for maintaining the stable pressure in storage tank are discussed in detail, the setup of closed discharge system for waste water and waste gas in tank farm is introduced, and some corresponding countermeasures are introduced for the polymerization of MMA, such as not using inner floating roof and controlling the storage temperature in tank, so as to ensure the long-term and safe operation of the tank farm and meet the latest environmental protection requirements

As a new type of high efficiency heat exchanger, hairpin heat exchanger has been rarely used in FCC units in China. In this paper, a RFCC unit in Kazakhstan is taken as an example to introduce the application of hairpin heat exchanger in FCC unit. The characteristics of hairpin heat exchanger and the control scheme of heat transfer system are discussed in detail. Hairpin heat exchanger has the advantages of simple structure, low manufacturing and installation cost, high heat transfer efficiency and small floor area. Meanwhile, the control scheme designed by Technip is advanced and reliable. For FCC units in China dealing with clean media at low flow rate and low heat transfer duty, hairpin heat exchanger may be considered as a good heat transfer solution

The existing roasting technology for 5A molecular sieve adsorbent and its problem of decreasing adsorption capacity are introduced in this paper. To solve this problem, a new roasting technology for 5A molecular sieve adsorbent was developed. This technology is novel and innovative. Its characteristics include forced vacuum suction, high automation, high precision of temperature control and low energy consumption. High quality products can be produced using this new technology, the adsorption loss can be controlled around 3%, the performance of adsorbent can be greatly improved, and the product performance is better than those of the products produced using the existing technology and the imported adsorbents. Using high pressure fluid at the outlet of pump, the pump inlet valve seal groove is backwashed and cleaned up. With the help of the fine seam flushing of high speed fluid under a differential pressure of 1.5MPa, the ball type iron slag in the 55mm can be cleaned up in theory, so that most of the dirt deposited can be cleaned up and the internal leakage problem of the inlet valve can be solved. In practical application, the success rate of backwashing of the pump inlet valve is found to be nearly 70%. Therefore, the emergency shutdown of process units caused is reduced by about 24%

Energy-saving Optimization Design of Heat Transfer Network in Methanol Distillation Process

Methanol distillation process has high energy consumption and water consumption, therefore, energy saving is of vital significance to increasing the economic benefit of methanol plant. This paper, based on a 400kt/a methanol plant consisting of three distillation columns, reuses the waste heat produced in the distillation process to preheat the feed to distillation column. The optimized process can not only reduce the heat load of the bottom reboilers for pre-distillation column and pressurized column, but also reduce the heat load of product cooler in the pressurized column, thus reducing the consumption of steam and cooling water and achieving energy saving, consumption reduction and investment reduction. The data in this paper mainly comes from the simulation software PROⅡ and the heat exchanger calculation software HTRI. A comparative analysis of three different heat transfer networks for methanol distillation process is carried out, and Scheme No. 3 is selected as the best one

Comparative Analysis of Selection Schemes for Overhead Heat Exchanger of FCC Main Fractionator

The type selection of overhead heat exchanger of FCC main fractionator is critical to the recovery of low temperature heat and the reduction in power consumption of wet gas compressor. Taking a 2.2 Mt/a RFCC unit as an example, the PROII and HTRI software are used to compare the heat transfer efficiency, EMTD and pressure drop of different kinds of overhead heat exchangers. The results indicate that fixed tubesheet heat exchanger provides lower pressure drop and higher heat transfer efficiency. PVDesktop software is used to carry out thermal stress analysis for some special locations of the fixed tubesheet heat exchanger, and the results show that fixed tubesheet is suitable for the overhead heat exchanger due to its good stress conditions, easier manufacture and lower metal consumption. This paper provides some useful reference for the type selection of overhead heat exchange systems in the fractionators of delayed coker, hydrogenation unit and other units in refinery

The cast-in-situ reinforced concrete structure is easy to crack on the wall and cause leakage when it is too long. The prevention and control of cracks is the key point to be considered during the design. This paper analyzes the reasons for cracks in reinforced concrete water tank from the aspects of load, dry shrinkage, temperature and humidity difference, material quality, joint structure and construction. For the construction of a large fire water tank, expansive concrete was used to prevent dry shrinkage crack during construction, and the temperature stress was calculated through ambient temperature difference during service to ensure that the temperature stress is less than the tensile strength of concrete, so as to avoid structural cracks. Study on the Treatment of Phenol/Acetone Wastewater by Combined Process of MBR and Fenton

The phenolic wastewater discharged from phenol and acetone plant is characterized by high salt concentration, high organic concentration and high bio-toxicity. This chemical wastewater has complex composition and is difficult to be treated. According to the characteristics of phenol/acetone wastewater, Littoral Chemical (Tianjin) Co., Ltd. has obtained special bacteria by screening and domesticating. And through the combination of MBR and Fenton technology, a field test of phenol/acetone wastewater was carried out in a chemical enterprise in Tianjin. On the basis of the field test, the treatment scheme for phenol/acetone wastewater was optimized to achieve the water saving and emission reduction goals of the enterprise. After mixing the phenol/acetone wastewater with the spent caustic wastewater from ethylene plant after wet oxidation and other production wastewater, a test was carried out in the laboratory using the combined process of MBR and Fenton. After treatment, the wastewater COD is less than 40mg/L and the ammonia nitrogen is less than 2mg/L, which meet the Grade V environmental quality standard for surface water (GB3838-2002)
