Abstract: The purpose of supplier development, evaluation and selection is to enable the winning suppliers to meet the needs of enterprises and help to achieve the short-term, medium-term and long-term goals of the enterprises. The frequently occurred late delivery of suppliers, quality problems of products delivered and uncooperative suppliers are the typical expressions of the lack of effective management of suppliers. Generally seven steps are needed to improve the management, i.e. obtaining the basic information of suppliers, checking the basic qualification of suppliers, inspecting the production and inspection capabilities of suppliers, investigating the storage and transportation capabilities of suppliers, understanding the R & D capabilities of suppliers, identifying the operation capabilities of quality assurance systems of suppliers, and verifying the true situation of suppliers' after-sales service systems.
