Analysis on Control Scheme of Hairpin Heat Exchanger in FCC Unit

Abstract: As a new type of high efficiency heat exchanger, hairpin heat exchanger has been rarely used in FCC units in China. In this paper, a RFCC unit in Kazakhstan is taken as an example to introduce the application of hairpin heat exchanger in FCC unit. The characteristics of hairpin heat exchanger and the control scheme of heat transfer system are discussed in detail. Hairpin heat exchanger has the advantages of simple structure, low manufacturing and installation cost, high heat transfer efficiency and small floor area. Meanwhile, the control scheme designed by Technip is advanced and reliable. For FCC units in China dealing with clean media at low flow rate and low heat transfer duty, hairpin heat exchanger may be considered as a good heat transfer solution
