Abstract: Based on the principle of British HSE EI guidance, this paper discusses the flow induced vibration and acoustic vibration which are less considered in domestic refining and petrochemical plants. The principle of these two kinds of vibration, the method of qualitative assessment, the process of quantitative assessment and the corrective actions are introduced in detail. The vibration fatigue failure analysis of small bore connections and thermowells which are easy to be damaged by flow induced vibration and acoustic vibration are introduced in detail. On this basis, some specific analysis cases are listed to further illustrate the method of such vibration analysis.
