Abstract: In recent years, it has been found that the helium content of LNG boil-off gas produced by natural gas liquefaction in Ordos Basin gas field is up to 3.3%, which has great development and utilization value. Based on the description of helium resources and market prospects, this paper analyzes various helium production technologies at home and abroad, and focuses on the design of helium extraction process in the 15,600 m3/d helium-containing boil-off gas treatment process of a 200 kt/a LNG plant in Ordos Basin gas field. The helium extraction process combining membrane separation with PSA is selected to extract helium from LNG boil-off gas. This process not only effectively reduces the energy consumption of equipment and improves the production efficiency of LNG plant, but also extracts helium with high purity.
