Abstract: Three-dimensional model of Claus reaction furnace with complicated structures, including the burner, was established using CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) method, and the flow and combustion process in the Claus reaction furnace was truly reproduced combined with the calculation model of acid gas combustion reaction. The simulation results were in good agreement with the data of Process Design Package, indicating the reliability of the calculation results. The combustion reaction mainly took place at the front end of the reactor furnace at the exit of the burner. The more intense the mixing of acid gas and combustion air was, the smaller the high temperature zone of combustion reaction was. The CFD results showed the velocity distribution and temperature distribution of flue gas in furnace and the concentration distribution of reactants and reaction products, which can be used directly as the theoretical basis for furnace design.
