A Brief History and Future Prospects of Industrial Buildings

Abstract: This paper introduces the development history of industrial buildings in the past 200 years. Reinforced concrete frame technology and steel structure technology as well as large span structure, grid structure, membrane structure, composite plate and other new technologies, new structures and new materials are applied to the buildings in petrochemical field. Looking into the future, while ensuring its advancement, rationality and safety, the development direction of industrial buildings include the artistic tendency, humanistic tendency and brand concept, the harmonious relationship between the buildings and the surrounding natural environment as well as the humanistic environment, and even the role as city signs or the transformation into artworks after the harmless treatment of emissions.
